Cahill latest
Gary Cahill sbo has been offered to AC Milan to solve their defensive crisis, according to reports in Italy. The Chelsea star, who has been linked with Aston Villa , looks likely to leave Stamford Bridge in the next transfer window. And according to Italian newspaper Corriere Dello Sport , Milan could be interested - assuming they don’t feel the need to move for a free agent before then. The outlet claims their problems at the back are so acute they are sifting through viable free agents - rather than waiting for the window to open in six weeks.

They have Financial Fair Play considerations to manage too - but in terms of sheer experience and ability Cahill would be a decent option. The 32-year-old has been on the peripheries of the first-team since the arrival of Maurizio Sarri, with David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger keeping him out of the side. He moved to Chelsea in January 2012 and has won everything with the club, including two Premier League titles, sbo an FA Cup, a League Cup, a Champions League and a Europa League. But this year he has played only 21 minutes of Premier League football, instead taking a ‘B-team’ role in the Carabao Cup and Europa League matches.

McKenna hints at move
Scott McKenna has admitted he sees his long-term future in England amid speculation Aston Villa could return with another bid in the January transfer window.  The 22-year-old Aberdeen defender was the subject of a £7million deadline day bid from Villa in August but Dons boss Derek McInnes knocked it back. sbo McInnes explained later how Steve Bruce arrived too late in the window and left him with little choice but to keep hold of his star defender. Since then McKenna has gone from strength to strength and is now a key member of the Scotland national set-up under ex-Villa boss Alex McLeish.

Youngster signs first deal
Aston Villa have tied down promising youngster Lewis Brunt to his first professional contract. The 18-year-old midfielder has been a regular in David Hughes’ under-18s squad and has broken into Kevin MacDonald’s under-23s this year. Brunt was involved with the first team during pre-season and was handed a cameo off the bench in the 1-1 draw with Kidderminster Harriers at Aggborough in July.
